CAPC Bordeaux and Glasgow International collaborate for the first time to co-produce a new performance by Glasgow-based artist Tako Taal in After Kinte.
This will be the first solo project by Tako Taal to take place in Europe, introducing audiences to new and innovative artistic work. The activity's content will create space for reflection on how histories of places and characters can be used and instrumentalised. After Kinte contends with the afterlives of colonial power relations. These themes are particularly relevant to audiences in Glasgow and Bordeaux, both port cities constructed through colonial wealth accumulated in the 18th and 19th centuries.
This new work will be presented during CAPC’s festival L’Académie des Mutantes from the 20 to 22 of June and at Glasgow International festival in June 2024.
This project is one of the laureates of the UK/France Spotlight on Culture Fund for Scotland and Northern Ireland delivered by the British Council in partnership with Creative Scotland.
