Together British Council and Levi’s®, have launched an international residency to exchange practice and support experimentation around circular making, with a specific focus on post-consumer materials.

Applications were invited from EU-based fashion, textiles, craft and materials designers and artists to submit proposals for reimagining Levi’s® post-consumer materials, as part of the British Council's Architecture Design Fashion (ADF) Making Matters programme and the Levi’s® by Levi’s® initiative.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all residency activity will take place digitally. A UK-based fabrication practice will be appointed to collaborate remotely with the selected EU-based designer.

The output of the residency will aim to demonstrate innovative approaches to developing circular systems for Levi’s® post-consumer materials. The purpose of the showcase is to explore impactful methods to communicate circular making processes to a public audience.

The residency output could take the form of, but not be limited to, an installation, design print or artwork, packaging, textiles design, ceramics, product design or a system showcasing a specific material process.
