This activity originated from a meeting between Arnaud Meunier, director of the MC2, Catherine Hargreaves of Compagnie les 7 sœurs, and Keisha Thompson in Manchester. Together We Imagine is an initiative aimed at fostering sharing and reflection among young people in Grenoble and Manchester on societal and global challenges. The proposed artistic camp, scheduled from 11 to 16 June 2024, in Grenoble, will serve as an initial exchange for 8 to 12 young people aged 18 to 30 from diverse backgrounds and social origins.
Throughout the week, there will be opportunities for debates on themes chosen by the group in collaboration with Grenoble associations and committed communities. Workshops covering various artistic practices will be led by professional artists from diverse backgrounds, including theatre, writing, dance, and visual arts.
The primary goal of this inaugural camp is to allow young people to reflect on the trajectory they wish to give to the Together We Imagine project, shaping it into their own initiative. On the last day, there will be a final presentation of the exchange open to the public. This is an opportunity for collective living, where young people will not only discover their cultural differences but also find commonalities and explore their shared questions as young global citizens.
This artistic camp is part of UK/France Spotlight on Culture 2024. It serves as the introduction to an ongoing collaboration that the British Council will support, extending beyond the programme. This continued collaboration is envisioned to flourish through the creativity and dedication of the participating youth.
Following on from the artistic exchange, which occurred in the first half of our Spotlight on Culture programme, Keisha Thompson will present discoveries from the project and her Innovation Fellowship at Contact Theatre, Manchester on the 6th of September.
