AI and English language teaching: Preparing for the future

This exciting event will include a presentation by the report's lead author, Professor Helen Crompton, and a round-table discussion with the following leading experts in the field.

Professor Helen Crompton

Professor Crompton is a Professor of Instructional Technology, and the Executive Director of the Research Institute for Digital Innovation in Learning at Old Dominion University. She has been listed on Stanford’s list of the top 2% of scientists worldwide. She has worked as a consultant for the United Nations and the World Bank and was the lead researcher and co-author of the British Council report on AI and English Language Teaching.

Professor Colin de la Higuera

Professor de la Higuera is UNESCO Chair in Open Educational Resources and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Nantes. A trustee of the Knowledge for All Foundation, he was co-chair of the Open Education Global Congress in 2021 and 2022 and has co-authored the textbook AI for Teachers as part of the EU AI4T programme.

Professor Agnes Kukulska-Hulme

Professor Kukulska-Hulme leads the Learning Futures programme at The Open University in the UK. Author and editor of over 300 publications, she has been a keynote speaker at numerous international conferences. Her research includes British Council supported studies on technology in education in marginalised communities and attitudes to online learning.

Dr Valentin Corneloup

Dr Corneloup is a researcher and lecturer in Cognitive Psychology at the Forward College in Paris, and an associated researcher for the LaPEA (Université de Paris). He specialises in technology-enhanced learning and the integration of AI into education. His research focuses on identifying the most effective approaches for implementing AI within education systems.
