Alexandre is one the 5 laureates of the 2022 Entente Cordiale for the Climate scholarship. He is currently studying for a Master's degree in Environmental Technology at Imperial College London.
I have always been very interested in environmental issues and development issues. After passing my baccalaureate, I decided to approach these subjects from the angle of science and engineering, on the one hand to better understand their causes and their impacts, and on the other hand to contribute to responding to them concretely. I completed two years of preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles in the MP (physical math) sector at the Sainte-Geneviève high school (Versailles), before joining the engineering cycle at the Ecole Polytechnique in 2019. I chose to follow the specialty Sciences for the challenges of the environment, in parallel with a degree in philosophy at the University of Nanterre. This dual curriculum allowed me to complete my scientific knowledge on environmental subjects while linking them to broader issues: social and political sciences, notion of gender, economics.
Wishing to later work in the civil service, in an NGO or in an international body around development projects and environmental policies, I chose to complete my training on these subjects with a master's degree in London. The international outreach, the possibility of working at the interface between science and public policy and the prospect of studying in a great city like London convinced me that this study abroad experience could bring me everything I was looking for!
