Anne Duncan joined the British Council as Country Director for France in June 2021.
Anne is a French/American, whose British education and experience profoundly marked her life, creating enduring personal, professional and cultural ties with the United Kingdom.
Based in Paris, she is an experienced leader known for building and implementing a vision and strategy, leading and transforming organisations for growth.
Anne brings a high level of international and particularly European experience across the breadth of business, government, charities/NGOs and cultural sectors. She is experienced as a consultant and in leading and developing mission-driven organisations such as the International Women’s Forum, Institute of Directors and Slow Food. She is currently Co-Chair of the Board of Governors of the American Hospital in Paris among other roles.
Anne earned a Master of Science degree at London Business School, where she conducted doctoral research on cross-sector collaboration.
Daughter of an English and drama teacher, Anne grew up in the theatre. The experience anchored her belief in the power of language, education, arts and culture to build connections, create meaning, and improve and transform lives.
An avid athlete from a young age, she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband, family and friends, including hill walking in the Lake District and around their country home in the French Alpilles.
